We are committed to keeping our patients and staff safe and are taking the following steps to reduce the risk of COVID-19 in our practice setting.
- We are providing extra training for staff and education for patients about the importance of hand hygiene, facemasks, and cough etiquette.
Tissues, alcohol-based hand sanitizer and trash cans have been provided in the waiting and treatment areas. Soap & water are available in all our restrooms.
- We are monitoring our staff for symptoms of COVID-19.
Staff or their family members who have symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g., fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle aches, tiredness) are advised to stay home and not come in to work.
- We are screening patients for symptoms of COVID-19.
If patients have any symptoms, we are asking them to postpone their visit to us. We are also checking temperatures of patients before they enter the building.
- We are separating anyone who presents with an eye infection as this maybe a symptom of COVID-19.
If a patient presents with an eye infection, we are immediately placing them in an exam room away from other patients. The room is thoroughly disinfected after the patient is seen.
- We have trained our staff about proper use of personal protective equipment.
You may see a change in the PPE (i.e. gowns, masks, gloves) that staff are asked to wear. We have installed protective panels at the front desk to reduce exposure.
- We continue our routine cleaning and disinfection procedures of the equipment used to care for our patients.
All equipment and supplies that come into contact with a patient are disinfected or discarded.
- We are limiting visitors.
We are restricting visitor access to only those who are essential for the patient’s care as we need to limit the number of patients in our waiting room. Patients may remain in their car until we are ready to place them in an exam room if that makes them more comfortable.
